Description

Concept.
The waiting halls consist of four elements: base, wall, roof, and pylons. They primarily provide weather protection for VBZ passengers. The rear wall additionally shields against traffic noise and dirt, while backlit panels also serve as advertising surfaces.

Architecture.
The concrete base forms the structural foundation and protects against vehicle impacts. The wall, made of steel hollow-section supports and aluminium light boxes, also conceals ventilation ducts, electrical wiring, and roof drainage. The roof is composed of a steel truss with a waterproofing layer and a translucent expanded-metal soffit, which reflects light at night and brightens the platforms during the day. Existing pylons were retained; the new roof is connected at a higher level with correspondingly raised anchor points.
