Architecture
The superimposition of bus depot and school becomes the central architectural theme. The two parts enrich each other and form an unmistakable unity: the dematerialized glass-aluminum body of the school building floats above the heavy base of glazed clinker bricks. Complementary structures, overlapping volumes and different accesses result in a concise design with public character and dynamic symbolism.
 
Bus depot
Located on the ground floor, the depot is organized in the building’s longitudinal direction. Both narrow sides open fully with folding doors. The depot includes eight lanes, each 98 meters long and 3.90 meters wide, with a separate washing facility and four fueling stations inside the hall.
 
School
The school occupies the two upper floors, accessible from both longitudinal sides below the cantilevering volume of the school. Vertical circulation is provided by four corner staircases and a central street-side staircase. Classrooms line the façades around two central gymnasiums, while corridors are expanded by the cafeteria, foyer and stairways, bringing daylight deep into the building. An inner courtyard provides additional light to the cafeteria.
 
Materialization
Two blue-glazed clinker brick walls define the depot and its forecourts, forming the pedestal for the floating school volume. Above, a precise glass-and-aluminum envelope emphasizes lightness and creates a strong play of light.
 
On the inside, exposed concrete defines the spatial character and is refined with wooden surfaces such as doors, windows, soffits, handrails and the cladding of the gymnasium.
